Gateway to London

The Tower of London is Britain’s most famous fortress, and it has a very long and interesting history that makes it one of the nation’s most popular tourist attractions today.

Founded in 1066 by William the Conqueror following the Norman Conquest, the Tower has sat by the River Thames for almost a thousand years serving as a gateway to the capital, and throughout this time it has taken on several other important roles too.
